Kumei & Tofu Tees
Tofu Tees was founded in 2016 by 8 year old activist, and artist, Kumei Norwood. Kumei is now 16 and uses her platform to keep attention on social issues year round, not just when they're trending. Her slogans "Social issues are not trends" and "Racism is trash", have helped her make a name for herself. Outside of her shop and business, she is a local community hero, giving back consistently, and keeping her mindset "rooted in community".
Why is it important to support this young entrepreneur and changemaker? Shopping with Tofu Tees means that you are supporting her dreams and making her mission possible. Tofu Tees is so much more than a store. It is a hub for teh community to make a small difference TOGETHER. Kumei hosts a monthly food drive at her store in partnership with The Solidarity Fridge, a grassroots 24/7 and inclusive food pantry and garden. She also gives LGBTQ+ youth a place to feel safe, seen and loved at her Teen Pride Night. Her "Black Owned" Market has become a staple in the community and keeps black makers and artists highlighted year-round. Kumei also hosts an annual gift drive, and has been awarded the honor of being one of our local Vegas Stronger Champions. Shopping with Tofu Tees, is so much more than shopping. It's becoming part of the change we all want and need! |
